On the morning of February 3, 2010, SAPD officers acted on a tip and performed a trash pull at 2644 Furlong Avenue. A "trash pull" is where officers simply pick up the trash that has been set out on the curb as garbage to be picked up. Patrolman Brandon Tagayun picked up this trash and went through it at SAPD.
Among the items found were
- Receipt for purchase of a funnel, rubber gloves, peroxide, & alcohol
- Numerous matchbooks without covers & striker plates
- Stained mason jars
- Rubber tubing
- Empty bottle of nail polish remover (100% acetone)
- Several empty bottles of hydrogen peroxide
- Numerous empty cold medicine packages
Ptl. Tagayun applied for and was granted a search warrant later that morning. The result of this search warrant yielded what had been a working meth lab. Samples were taken for lab analysis. Also a few rounds of rufle ammunition were found on the premises (7.62 mm).
In all, four persons were arrested in connection during the early afternoon of Feb 3.
