While investigating a 911 hang-up call, Ptl. P. A. Bass discovered two men that were in the country illegally.

Shortly before 2:00pm today, a 911 hang-up call received from a home in the 700 block of Cunningham Street. As is the standard procedure when receiving such a call, METRO 911 dispatches a police officer to the address of the phone number. Ptl. P. A. Bass was dispatched to the home. When he and another officer arrived, two men were there. They spoke little English and one displayed a Mexican identification. Ptl. Bass called the local office of Immigration & Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.) who put a Spanish interpreter on the phone. During this conversation with the ICE agent, both men admitted that they were in the country illegally.

Ptl. Bass transported them to the local ICE office in Charleston pending further investigation by that agency.
