At about 5:15 pm, SAPD received a call regarding a two-vehicle crash at the intersection at Walnut Street & US 60. A car driven by Lindsay Johnson (26 yoa from So. Chas.) was attempting to stop to keep from hitting a car turning onto Walnut Street. She reported that she was hydroplaning on the wet roadway, so she swerved into the adjacent lane.
She swerved into the path of a car driven by Robin Ramey (45 yoa from Chas). To avoid the collision, Ms. Ramey swerved and ended up striking a mini-van head-on in the turn lane of US 60. The driver of that van, Teresa Larue (37 yoa from St. Albans) was not injured.
Ms. Ramey was injured and was transported to a hospital by KC Paramedics. Her car went across traffic and struck a chain link fence at the DOH Garage. Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
The crash was caught on the dash camera of a Chas PD K-9 cruiser. The Chas PD officer was on the way to work. He called in the crash & assisted until SAPD officers arrived.
