Domestic call leads to pursuit & barricade

SAPD received a call on 9/5/2009 at about 0212 am regarding a domestic assault in the 900 blk of Sutherland Drive. The suspect had left the scene in a car prior to officer's arrival. SAPD broadcast a description of the car to other officers.

Nitro PD officer, Ptl. R. L. Clay spotted the suspect car (a black Dodge Neon) in Nitro at about 2:19 am. The suspect initially stopped then took off. A pursuit went from Nitro to Dunbar on Rt 25, across the Toll Bridge into South Charleston, then to St. Albans. The suspect eluded police on Kanawha Terrace near Central Elementary School. The pursuit lasted about 15 minutes.

SAPD received information that the suspect may flee to his bosses house on Cleveland Ave in St. Albans. At about 3:12 am, officers went there and discovered the suspect there and refused to come out. Officers discovered that the suspect was there and had retreated into room and refused to come out. After about 15 minutes, officers persuaded the suspect to surrender.

Arrested was Jason Scott Morris (30 yoa from St. Albans). He will be charged with Nighttime Burglary for going into his boss's home. The Kanawha County Prosecutor's Office was consulted and numerous other misdemeanor charges will be forthcoming.

Officers from Nitro PD, South Charleston PD, and the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department provided essential assistance in this incident.
